Hazel is a plant belonging to the genus Corylus (Batulaceae), and is also known as mountain chestnut , sharp chestnut, and beetroot. There are about 20 species of Corylus in the world, distributed in Asia, Europe and North America; in China, there are 8 species and 2 varieties distributed in Northeast, East, North, Northwest and Southwest. Hazel is an excellent tree species for both fruit and wood. Hazelnut , the fruit of the hazel tree, resembles a chestnut , with a hard shell, a fat white and round kernel, a fragrant aroma, and a large oil content. It tastes particularly delicious and has a lingering aftertaste. Therefore, it has become one of the most popular nut foods. “king of nuts” in the title, and flat peaches , walnuts , cashews and known as the “four nuts.”
